How Google Ranks Websites

Hello all! and welcome to your subscribed Nick's SEO World Free Tips Email. We have received great feedback on our "Online Partnerships" email. For those who missed it, you can view all of our past newsletters on our SEO BLOG

If you haven't heard - Google made a major change in their algorithm (how they rank websites). Some of the old techniques that web designers, website owners and webmasters used to optimize their websites are suddenly not working as well as they used to. Google changes! This may be frustrating for some when they suddenly see their site drop from their high position, but Google feels they need to change up once in a while to keep the "web manipulators" at bay.

All in all, Google is and continues to be the best and most accurate search engine in the world - for web users. THAT is the key: "web users". Big G wants the most relevant results to come up for each search requested. So for those who own a website or operate one, let's review some of what you need to have done and what you need to start doing.

Title your pages correctly with keywords - Each page should have a unique title tag imbedded in the code. When you search on Google for something, you will notice the search results with keywords highlighted in blue. That is the name of the page and Google is pulling the keywords from the title.

Unique content on the site - There is nothing wrong with having articles, news or other copy from another website but do not let it replace fresh new content. Google will spider your website periodically (more often for popular websites) and if they see nothing added over a few months, your ranking will slowly drop.

Keyword choosing - Use Google's free keyword tool. No adwords account required.

Facebook page - Facebook is the most popular site in the world right now, with users spending more time on it. If you do not have a company page, do it! It's free and Google spiders FB almost by the minute. Your url and other links will flow to you via Facebook. It's big.

Links - Yeah, "tell me something I don't know" right? Well, links are probably the biggest change in how Google looks at websites now. And it's not just links, it's where they come from. Links that are within sentences in articles, news feeds and other "to the minute" popular sources are most valuable. When using these sites, go with the MOST POPULAR. Article sites that have thousands and thousands of articles published and a site that ranks well on Google. You can test this bu searching article topics. The sites that come up are the most popular and the ones you should join and write for.

More pages - The easiest way to create fresh content is add another page to your website. Many people do not realize how much space you have to add pages! It could be a minor topic or subject, but to Google - it's new! and it will be factored in.

Photos and Videos - Not Videos and Photos from other sites (although you can), it's more pics and vids you create that could go viral on other sites, with links to you or your web address pasted on the clip. It's a great way to get looks and clicks!

Sure there is more, but those are the "biggies". Patience is the key my friends, but do what needs to be done and it will pay HUGE DIVIDENDS.

Recommended Tools for SEO: SEO SOFTWARE TOOL - This is a fantastic software program that will guide you through and do most of the optimization techniques needed. Specifically designed for those not looking to get involved nor have time to properly optimize their site.

Have a successful day!
